Problem
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is a state agency responsible for managing the conservation of Tennessee’s wildlife and natural resources, including enforcing regulations related to hunting, fishing, and wildlife protection. When it comes to bear incidents, the TWRA monitors bear populations and educates the public on safety. They also respond to bear-related emergencies, such as when bears pose a threat to human safety or property, by safely relocating the animal or managing the situation with appropriate protocols.
The State of Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency wanted a system to track the agency’s outreach regarding wildlife incidents and track incident calls from their automated SmartCop. TWRA wanted to make data-driven decisions to ensure they were allocating resources sufficiently across the state.
What We Did
Vectr Solutions collaborated with the State of Tennessee to establish a case management solution for the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency integrated with the State’s emergency call system, SmartCop.
Core Capabilities Include:
- Integrated TN 911 call system (SmartCop) with Salesforce to route 911 bear-related calls to Wildlife Resource Agents
- Enabled tracking of demographic and capture outcome data to use analytics to drive decision-making and coordination with the community and target educational efforts
- Tracked TWRA inventory and assets deployed in the field across regional offices
- Established a repository of digital resources available for Wildlife Resource Agents to utilize and share with the community in response to bear incidents
Outcome
The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency uses Salesforce to drive data-driven decision-making and improve operational efficiency. Since their launch in Fall 2024, TWRA has been able to:
- Improved response time for resources shared with Resource Agents and community members from days to hours
- Expanded the knowledge resources available to Resource Agents and community members from internally available to externally available
- Extended analytics regarding bear incident resolution and geospatial data including relocation sites
