
Problem:
Valley View Casino & Hotel is a prominent tribal casino and hotel located in Valley Center, San Diego County, California. It is owned and operated by the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, a federally recognized tribe of Kumeyaay people with a long history in the region. The casino first opened its doors in 2001, marking a significant milestone in the tribe’s economic development and self-sufficiency efforts.
Valley View Casino required a sophisticated analytics and monitoring system to improve their ability to flag financial transactions to be investigated by the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Unit. In order to accomplish this, Valley View Casino worked with Vectr Solutions to implement Tableau Prep and Tableau Desktop to be able to review and monitor suspicious transactions in real-time and without the use of multiple spreadsheets.
What we Did:
Vectr Solutions partnered with Valley View to evaluate their databases and algorithms for financial transaction monitoring to streamline their approach using Tableau.
Key capabilities implemented included:
- Tableau Prep Workflow flagging financial transactions requiring review by business users and outputs a .xlxs or .csv file of
- Tableau Dashboard highlighting KPIs related to the flagged financial transactions
- Consolidated Data Model to support ongoing development of more sophisticated financial transaction monitoring
Outcomes:
- Reduced the overall report preparation and analysis from hours to seconds through automated manual spreadsheet creation and analysis to reduce the overall time
- Extended financial transaction monitoring to trigger proactive alerts and insights without manual data mining efforts
- Established critical KPIs for ongoing analysis and monitoring to improve overall reporting to the U.S. Treasury
