Moving a Federal Software Provider’s Sales and Marketing Into a FedRAMP High Salesforce Environment

Moving a Federal Software Provider’s Sales and Marketing Into a FedRAMP High Salesforce Environment

PROBLEM

A software company that sells FedRAMP-authorized products to federal agencies ran all of its sales and marketing on a commercial Salesforce org. To align its own operations with the FedRAMP standards its customers expect, it needed to move that org into a FedRAMP High environment.

That meant switching every user and every piece of existing functionality, including its CPQ quoting process, to Salesforce Government Cloud, and finding replacements for tools that couldn’t make the move.

WHAT WE DID

Vectr Solutions moved the client’s entire Salesforce org, including every user and its CPQ quoting process, into a FedRAMP High Government Cloud environment.

Key Capabilities Included:

  • Discovery with business, IT, and security teams to decide what to migrate as-is and what to rebuild for the government sales process
  • Full metadata migration from Commercial Cloud, with features the client no longer needed turned off
  • CPQ migration, including configuration and reference data, with guidance on FedRAMP compliance
  • Replacements for AppExchange products that weren’t allowed in Government Cloud
  • Security controls for logins, sessions, MFA, and record-level access, with Salesforce Shield enabled
  • Data migration with dependencies and relationships intact
  • Dev, QA, and UAT sandboxes with a defined promotion path to production
  • UAT, production deployment, and user setup in the new environment

OUTCOMES

By moving its entire Salesforce org, including CPQ, into Salesforce Government Cloud, the client brought its own sales and marketing operations up to the same FedRAMP High standard as the products it sells to federal agencies. Outcomes included:

  • All users moved off Commercial Cloud into a FedRAMP High environment
  • Sales and marketing operations aligned with FedRAMP, matching the standard of the products the client sells
  • Quoting works the same way it did before, with CPQ processes and workflows carried over intact
  • A controlled path to production: changes now move through dev, QA, and UAT before reaching the live org, keeping the environment stable and compliant over time
